Pay by Bank in Spain for online merchants

Give customers in Spain a guided way to pay from their bank account. Compare bank-transfer costs and Bizum for ecommerce, explore bank connections and choose a Wallid setup for your store.

What is Pay by Bank in Spain?

Pay by Bank connects a customer's bank payment to your online checkout. The customer selects an available bank and authorises the payment through their banking app or online banking, without entering card details.

In Spain, customers may know bank transfers as transferencias bancarias and instant transfers as transferencias inmediatas. Open banking payment initiation provides a guided payment journey that can link the payment and its status to an order.

With a manual bank transfer, the customer normally sends money using the bank details and reference you provide. When comparing checkout services, check how the payment is initiated, how its status reaches your store and how your team matches it to the sale.

Bank connections to check for your Spain checkout

Start with the banks your customers use, then confirm the available connection, account type and EUR payment route for your Wallid setup.

The bank-account references include BBVA, Santander, CaixaBank, Sabadell, Bankinter, ING, ABANCA, Unicaja, Ibercaja, Kutxabank, Cajamar and regional Caja Rural entities. A banking group can have separate access channels for personal, business or corporate accounts.

The directory concerns the customer's paying account. Merchant registration, business activity and payment activation are reviewed separately.

Compare bank transfers, Bizum and cards in Spain

Compare the service your business receives as well as the payment method. A transfer scheme, a bank-contracted merchant service and a checkout integration can have different prices, limits and reconciliation arrangements.

Manual bank transfer — transferencia bancariaThe customer sends a transfer using your receiving account details and a payment reference.Bank charges, reference accuracy, incoming-payment checks and matching the transfer to the order.
SEPA / SEPA InstantEuro transfer schemes used to move money between bank accounts, with different execution timings. The available route, bank and channel limits, transfer charges, payment confirmation and access to funds.
Bizum for ecommerceA merchant payment option contracted through a participating bank or provider, with bank authorisation by the customer.Merchant terms, eligible buyers, ecommerce limits, refunds, order confirmation and how payments are credited.
Cards through a TPV providerCard acceptance under your bank, acquirer or payment-provider agreement. The actual card mix, percentage and fixed fees, any monthly or minimum charges, refunds, disputes and crediting terms.
Wallid Pay by BankA bank-authorised payment journey connected to your online store or custom checkout.Customer bank availability, merchant eligibility, EUR fees, payment status and the integration that fits your business.

Bizum already offers bank-authorised payments for online purchases. Its personal send-and-receive limits are not the limits for buying from an ecommerce merchant; check the buyer's bank and the merchant service instead.

If you already use a TPV virtual or a gateway such as Redsys, compare the specific payment method and your acquiring agreement. A gateway can support cards, Bizum and other methods with different conditions. A comparison with Bizum or Redsys does not establish that your Wallid integration accepts either service.

Pay by Bank fees for EUR payments

Wallid's published standard fee is 1% + €0.30 per successful EUR payment.

Pay by Bank fees for EUR payments
Payment amountStandard Wallid payment fee
€100€1.30
€1,000€10.30
€10,000€100.30

The examples exclude applicable VAT and any platform fees. Successful refunds are charged separately at 1% of the refunded amount + €0.30. Confirm the conditions for your setup in Wallid pricing.

Compare the full cost at the same order value and monthly volume. Your bank's transfer fee, a Bizum merchant quote and a checkout provider's transaction fee pay for different parts of the payment process.

For higher volumes, share your monthly payment count, total EUR value and average order size with Wallid to discuss volume pricing.

Instant transfers: separate payment speed from access to funds

SEPA Instant can credit the beneficiary account within seconds. That does not establish a universal end-to-end payout time for every payment provider or merchant arrangement.

For your checkout, confirm the payment route, the status your store receives and when the money becomes available to your business. Customer authorisation, transfer execution and any provider crediting or payout process are separate events.

Instant euro transfers are not automatically free. Bank transfer charges and the price of a merchant checkout service should be compared separately.

Large orders: compare fees and the customer's payment limit

For equipment, furniture, specialist retail or service deposits, a larger order makes the fee structure and payment limit particularly important. At Wallid's standard rate, a successful €10,000 EUR payment costs €100.30 before applicable VAT or platform charges.

Compare that with your actual bank and payment-provider quotes, including any fixed fees, caps, minimums or monthly charges. If you already accept manual transfers, include the work your business actually needs to check and reconcile them.

A bank's per-payment and daily limits, the payer's available balance and the initiation channel can affect a larger payment. A bank being listed does not establish an unlimited checkout amount.

Bizum's personal P2P limits should not be used to decide whether it can handle a merchant purchase. Its ecommerce conditions must be checked with the bank or provider, just as the exact bank and account conditions must be checked for Pay by Bank.

B2B payments: validate who can authorise the transfer

For a wholesale order or business purchase, the person placing the order may not have authority to approve a payment from the company's account. Check the account permissions and whether another authorised user or signature is required.

Spanish banks can provide different retail, business and corporate channels. A personal-bank connection or a business catalogue label does not establish support for every company account or multi-person approval workflow.

Before accepting a B2B order, agree how the payment reference and status will be matched to the order or invoice and which confirmation your team needs before releasing goods. Check that the receiving account holder's name and the business identity shown to the customer are correct, particularly where your trading brand differs from the legal account holder.

Which sales scenarios should you evaluate?

Which sales scenarios should you evaluate?
Sales scenarioWhat to establish for your checkout
Online retail alongside cards or BizumCustomer bank reach, the bank-authorisation journey, order status and the total cost for your average order.
Equipment, home interiors and other larger purchasesPer-payment and daily bank limits, available balance, the fee at the actual order value and the confirmation needed before fulfilment.
Wholesale and business ordersThe company account, authorised signers, approval steps and matching the payment to an order or invoice.

These are scenarios to assess with Wallid. They do not establish acceptance of every merchant category or availability of every account workflow.

Pay by Bank Spain FAQ

Start with the bank-connection directory, then confirm the exact bank, account type and payment route for your Wallid setup. The references include major banks and regional entities, but a listed connection is not a guarantee that every customer account is enabled. Merchant eligibility is reviewed separately.

They are separate services. Bizum for ecommerce is a bank-based merchant payment option with its own activation and commercial conditions. Wallid provides Pay by Bank through its available integrations. Both can involve authorisation with a bank; a Wallid setup does not establish native Bizum acceptance.

The published standard fee is 1% + €0.30 per successful EUR payment: €1.30 on €100, €10.30 on €1,000 and €100.30 on €10,000. Applicable VAT and platform charges are additional. Successful refunds are charged separately. Higher-volume pricing can be discussed with Wallid.

Not automatically. The bank's transfer charge and the fee for a merchant payment service are separate costs. Confirm your bank's tariff and your checkout provider's terms when comparing the full cost of accepting a payment.

Bizum distinguishes personal send-and-receive limits from purchases in shops. Do not apply a personal P2P cap to ecommerce orders. Check the buyer's bank limits and the conditions of your merchant service for the purchase amount you need.

They can be assessed for your setup, but there is no universal payment maximum or blanket business-account guarantee. Check the exact account, payer permissions, approval steps, payment-channel limits and merchant conditions before offering the flow.

Authorisation is one stage of the payment. Confirm which payment status your integration uses for completion and when funds are available to your business. Do not treat a customer screenshot or an initiation message alone as your fulfilment confirmation.

Every merchant requires a review of its business activity, registration, products and customer markets before activation. Bank coverage alone does not establish eligibility, and Pay by Bank does not remove the obligations that apply to your business. See Pay by Bank for eligible high-risk merchants and discuss your proposed setup with Wallid before integrating.
